Dunellen Police Report | March 2017

On 3/25/2017 at 6:55 pm – Police responded to South Avenue for the report of an abandoned vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located an unoccupied Nissan Sentra with fresh damage. A check of the vehicle’s registration revealed that it had been stolen out of Middlesex Borough earlier that morning. The car was turned over to Middlesex Police Department for processing before being returned to its rightful owner.

On 3/22/2017 at 11:18 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following an investigation into the report of a suspicious vehicle on Prospect Avenue. She was found to have three active warrants for her arrest out of Upper Township and Woodbridge Township. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving new court dates.

On 3/22/2017 at 1:19 am – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop after police responded to a report of a reckless driver leaving the parking lot of a North Avenue business. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober friend.

On 3/20/2017 at 11:55 pm – A Green Brook resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Hall Street. He was transported to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing, where he provided breath samples, and was released to a sober friend pending court.

On 3/20/2017 at 12:22 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. He was found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Dunellen, brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing, and released with a new court date after posting bail.

On 3/20/2017 at 12:05 am – A Plainfield resident was placed under arrest following a motor vehicle stop on Jackson Avenue. Because he had two outstanding warrants from South Plainfield and Westfield, he was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters and later released after posting bail.

On 3/19/2017 at 11:53 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana under 50g and tampering with evidence following a motor vehicle stop on South Washington Avenue. Police observed the driver toss a package containing marijuana from the vehicle upon initiation of a traffic stop for several moving violations. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 3/19/2017 at 8:13 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court after patrol responded to a call reporting criminal mischief at the Dunellen Train Station. During the investigation, the suspect was found to have warrants for his arrest out of Middlesex Boro and Bound Brook. He was placed under arrest, brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing without incident, and was turned over to the Middlesex Boro Police Department on their warrant.

On 3/17/2017 at 8:21 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following receipt of blood test results and investigation into a serious motor vehicle accident which occurred in Dunellen on 3/2/2017. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 3/13/2017 at 12:07 am – An Edison resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing breath samples following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. Several empty alcohol containers were located in the vehicle. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released to a sober party.

On 3/11/2017 at 3:38 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested for contempt of court during a premise check of the Dunellen Train Station. He was known to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Piscataway. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after receiving a new court date.

On 3/9/2017 at 1:36 am – A Point Pleasant resident was arrested and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer (2 counts), throwing bodily fluids on a police officer with injury, hindering apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a hypodermic needle, and resisting arrest following a motor vehicle stop in which he was the passenger. Additionally, he was found to have active arrest warrants from Freehold, Howell, and Jackson. He was placed under arrest and transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for injuries sustained. A Dunellen police officer was also injured and transported to the hospital for evaluation. A no-bail warrant was granted and he was transferred to the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office.

On 3/8/2017 at 10:53 pm – A Middlesex resident was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after interfering with officers attempting to conduct a motor vehicle stop at the Middlesex border. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released with a court date.

On 3/7/2017 at 10:45 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana following a motor vehicle stop on North Washington Avenue. He was arrested and brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing before being released with a court date.

On 3/4/2017 at 10:49 pm – A Somerset resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. An investigation revealed that he had a warrant out of Green Brook as well as a no-bail warrant out of the Union County Sheriff’s Office. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and later released after posting bail and receiving new court dates.

On 3/3/2017 at 10:44 pm – A Dunellen resident was arrested and charged with shoplifting and possession of heroin after police responded to a report of shoplifting occurring at a North Avenue business. The stolen item was located on his person as well as several folds of heroin. He was found to also have an arrest warrant out of Bound Brook. After being brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing, he was released after posting bail.

On 3/3/2017 at 9:10 pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. She was found to have a suspended driver’s license as well as a warrant for her arrest out of North Plainfield. She was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 3/2/2017 at 11:55 pm – A Newark resident was arrested for contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on South Avenue. An investigation revealed that the driver had an active warrant for his arrest out of South Plainfield. He was brought to Dunellen Police Headquarters for processing and released after posting bail.

On 3/1/2017 at 7:42 pm – Two Dunellen residents were arrested and charged with simple assault following an investigation into an incident which occurred on 2/24/2017 at approximately 1:00 am. Both were taken into custody without incident and released with a court date after processing. An active arrest warrant for a third suspect in this incident has been issued for aggravated assault.
