On 11/29/15 @ 11:40pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop on Dunellen Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for making an illegal right on red at North and Washington Avenues. The driver was found to be intoxicated and arrested. He was brought to headquarters where he was found to be over double the legal limit. He was processed and later released to a sober party. Continue Reading →
The Sheriff’s Office will hold an 8-week-long Sheriff’s Civilian Academy for residents of Middlesex County beginning April 2016. The program is designed to educate Middlesex County residents on the various functions and duties of the Sheriff’s Office. Applications are being accepted now for the program, which will be held at the Middlesex County Police Training Center at North Patrol Road in Edison. The first session will take place on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 7 to 9 p.m. Classes will continue weekly on Wednesdays. One Saturday class will be held. Continue Reading →
Dunellen Police Department had its first “Narcan life save” last night. At 11:30pm, officers were dispatched to the 200 Block of First Street. Sergeant Jeffrey Delbuono, Patrolman Nicholas Goldman, Patrolman Nicholas Pepe and Patrolman Marcin Nierodzik arrived on scene and found a 32 year old man from Woodbridge Township unconscious with a faint pulse and agonal breathing, laying in the roadway next to his vehicle. The police administered oxygen as well as two rounds of Naloxone, also known as Narcan, a medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdose. After approximately five minutes from the first Narcan shot, the man regained consciousness and started breathing on his own. Continue Reading →

4-H Center, located at 645 Cranbury Rd. in East Brunswick.Parents and children are invited to enjoy a pancake breakfast, meet Santa, and meet Santa’s furry and feathered friends at our petting zoo. There are two seatings for breakfast and activities: at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Admission prices are $8 for adults, $6 for children (ages 9 & under), and includes breakfast, 1 picture per family with Santa, petting zoo, and more. Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), which supplies power and heat to much of Dunellen’s homes, announced Monday that it will provide bill credits this winter that will lower bills by about 30 percent during the months of December, January and February for a typical residential gas heating customer. Those customers will see a total bill credit of approximately $124 this winter. Including this winter’s bill credits announced today, since January 2009 annual bills for PSE&G’s typical residential gas heating customer will be 55 percent — or $916 — lower due to supply rate reductions. In fact, PSE&G’s gas supply rate is at its lowest in 15 years. Middlesex County’s Roosevelt Park Family Ice Skating Rink opened for its thirteenth season on Friday, November 20. The rink is located at the Level Playing Fields Complex inside the County’s Roosevelt Park, which is adjacent to Menlo Park Mall in Edison. Per session admission is $6 for adults and $5 for senior citizens and children 17 and under. Discounts are available for multi-session passes and groups. A Veterans Town Hall Meeting & Claims Clinic will be held on Wednesday, December 2, on the first floor of the Somerset County Human Services Building at 27 Warren Street, Somerville. The claims clinic will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The town hall meeting, hosted by Michael Blazis, director of the Newark Regional Office, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The VA has invited Congressional stakeholders, veteran service organizations, non-governmental organizations and other community partners to attend. Veterans, their families and survivors, organizations and individuals who work with or on behalf of veterans, as well as the general public are invited to attend to share information, hear feedback and get answers to questions about VA benefits, including compensation, pension, insurance, loan guaranty, vocational rehabilitation and employment, and education-benefit programs.

On 10/27/15 @ 6:00pm – A Plainfield resident was arrested and charged with contempt of court following a motor vehicle stop on North Avenue. The vehicle was stopped for having a tail lights out. The driver had an active warrant out for her arrest. She was arrested, brought to headquarters to be processed and later posted bail. The 66th Annual Halloween Parade was held on Sunday, October 25. After over six decades, there have been a few changes: the parade is no longer held on Halloween night, silver dollars aren’t given out to participants, and this year instead of walking past through the downtown, the parade had a new path. As Grand Marshall, Faber School’s new principal Gary Lubisco led the parade from Lincoln Avenue to Front Street to Washington Avenue to Dunellen Avenue. He was escorted by the Dunellen High School band, Mayor Bob Seader, members of the Dunellen Recreation Commission, and numerous costume contest entrants. Police, fire, and rescue squad vehicles flanked the ends of the parade, protecting participants. Continue Reading →
